Bidesh Sikhyabruti Scholarship Amount

Under the scheme, selected students can receive comprehensive financial support of up to ₹25 lakh per year. This includes:

• Up to ₹15 lakh for tuition fees, subject to actual expenses
• ₹7 lakh for living expenses
• ₹3 lakh for travel, insurance and other miscellaneous expenses

The maximum benefit is capped at ₹50 lakh per student per course. Financial assistance for PG courses may be provided for one or two years depending on the course duration, while Ph.D. support is available for a maximum of two years.

Bidesh Sikhyabruti Scholarship Eligibility 2026-27

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Odisha.
• Only students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) category of Odisha are eligible.
• The applicant must have an unconditional admission offer from a foreign university or institution ranked among the Top 200 in the latest available QS Rankings.
• The annual gross family income should not exceed ₹12 lakh.
• The applicant should not be receiving another scholarship or financial assistance for the same course and purpose.
• Candidates who have already studied abroad using another scholarship, financial assistance or their own funds are not eligible.
• For a Master’s degree, applicants must have at least 65% marks in the relevant Bachelor’s degree and should not be more than 35 years old.
• For a Ph.D., applicants must have at least 65% marks in the relevant Master’s degree and should not be more than 40 years old.
• A student can receive the benefit under this scheme only once, either for a PG course or a Ph.D. course.

3. Complete the online application form with the required personal, academic and admission details.
4. Upload the necessary documents, including residence certificate, income certificate, caste certificate, academic records and foreign university admission documents.

Selection Process of Bidesh Sikhyabruti Scholarship

1. Applications are first checked to ensure that candidates meet all the eligibility requirements.
2. Eligible applications are considered by the Selection-cum-Screening Committee under OSHEC.
3. A merit list is prepared mainly based on the latest QS ranking of the foreign university or institution from which the applicant has received an admission offer.
4. Candidates with admission offers from higher-ranked universities receive a higher position in the merit list.
5. In case of a tie, the candidate’s academic performance and family income may also be considered according to the scheme guidelines.
6. The Selection Committee may scrutinize and verify the submitted documents, university ranking and admission offer and conduct personal interviews.
7. Final recommendations are submitted to the Higher Education Department for approval and award of the scholarship.
8. Selected candidates who have secured admission are issued a provisional Award of Scholarship letter.
