UP Scholarship 2026-27: Eligibility, Benefits, OTR Registration and Application Process

The UP Scholarship 2026-27 is a financial assistance scheme for students studying in Uttar Pradesh. It covers students at different education levels, including Pre-Matric, Post-Matric Intermediate and Dashmottar courses. UP Scholarship 2026-27 Eligibility Criteria

Students must fulfil the applicable eligibility requirements before submitting their application. The general conditions include:

  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
  • The student must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
  • The applicant must be enrolled in a recognised school, college or university.
  • The student must meet the academic and category requirements of the selected scholarship.
  • Students already receiving another scholarship may not be eligible.
  • A scholarship is granted only once for a particular course.

Pre-Matric Scholarship Eligibility

Students applying for the Pre-Matric Scholarship should:

  • Be residents of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Be studying in Class 9 or 10.
  • Belong to the applicable General, SC or ST category.
  • Have passed Class 8.

Post-Matric Intermediate Eligibility

Students should:

  • Be residents of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Be studying in Class 11 or 12.

Post-Matric Scholarship Eligibility

The Post-Matric Scholarship, other than Intermediate, covers students pursuing graduation, postgraduate, PhD and other higher education courses.

Eligible UP residents studying in recognised institutions outside the state may also apply under the designated Post-Matric Other State Scholarship, subject to the applicable requirements.

UP Scholarship 2026-27 Income Limit

The family income limit depends on the scholarship and category. The limits provided are:

  • Pre-Matric: ₹2.50 lakh per year for General, SC, ST, OBC and minority categories.
  • Post-Matric: ₹2 lakh per year for General, OBC and minority categories.
  • Post-Matric SC/ST: ₹2.50 lakh per year.

Students should use a valid income certificate issued by the competent authority. The income limit displayed for the selected scheme on the official portal should be treated as final.

UP Scholarship 2026-27 Amount and Benefits

The scholarship amount is not the same for every student. It depends on factors such as the selected scheme, course group, category, day-scholar or hosteller status, approved fees and verification results.

For example, the provided Pre-Matric benefits include:

  • General category: ₹3,000 per year
  • SC day scholars: ₹3,500 per year
  • SC hostellers: ₹7,000 per year
  • ST: ₹225 per month plus ₹750 annual grant
  • Minority: ₹225 per month plus ₹750 annual grant
  • OBC: ₹3,000 per year for Classes 9-10 for 2026-27

Post-Matric support generally includes an admissible maintenance allowance and reimbursement of approved non-refundable fees.

Documents Required for UP Scholarship 2026-27

Students should keep the following documents ready:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • UP domicile or residence certificate
  • Current income certificate
  • Caste certificate, if applicable
  • Previous qualifying examination marksheet
  • Admission proof, student ID or bonafide certificate
  • Current-year fee receipt
  • Bank passbook showing the student’s account

The student’s name, date of birth and other personal details should match across Aadhaar, academic records, bank account and the scholarship application. The bank account should remain active, Aadhaar-seeded and enabled for DBT.

UP Scholarship OTR Registration Process

One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory for UP Scholarship applications. Only one OTR is permitted per student.

Students can follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official UP Scholarship portal and select One Time Registration.
  2. Authenticate the active mobile number and complete Aadhaar e-KYC.
  3. Generate the OTR and save the number received on the registered mobile.
  4. Open Student Registration and select the correct scholarship, category and study level.
  5. Enter the OTR and complete the scholarship registration.
  6. Log in through Fresh Login and enter personal, academic, fee and bank details.
  7. Upload the required documents and carefully review the application.
  8. Download and print the locked application and submit the printed form with supporting documents to the school or institution.

How to Check UP Scholarship Status?

Students can check their UP Scholarship status online by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official UP Scholarship portal.
  2. Open the Status section and select the relevant academic session.
  3. Enter the registration number, date of birth and captcha.
  4. Check whether the application is pending, forwarded, verified, approved, rejected or marked for correction.

If the status shows Pending at Institute, students should contact the institution’s scholarship or nodal office before the forwarding deadline.
