If you’re a parent or student in Odisha studying in Class IX or X, here’s some good news — the Odisha government offers a Pre Matric Scholarship to help ease the financial burden of school education. This scholarship supports students from Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), OBC/SEBC, and EBC categories.
Who Can Apply for Odisha Pre Matric Scholarship 2026-27?
This scholarship is open to students from the following categories:
- Scheduled Tribe (ST)
- Scheduled Caste (SC)
- OBC / SEBC
- EBC (Economically Backward Class — for those who don’t fall under ST, SC, or OBC/SEBC)
Income Limit
Your parents’ or guardian’s total annual income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 2,50,000 (Two Lakh Fifty Thousand rupees).
Basic Eligibility Conditions
Before applying, make sure you meet these conditions:
- You must be a regular, full-time student in Class IX or X.
- You should be studying in a Government school, or a school recognized by the Government or a Central/State Board of Secondary Education.
- Important for OBC/SEBC and EBC students: This scholarship is available only if you study in a Government School. Students from these categories studying in private (even if recognized) schools are not eligible.
- The scholarship is given only once per class. If a student repeats a class (say, due to failing), they cannot claim the scholarship again for that same class.
- The scholarship money is paid only into a bank account linked with the student’s Aadhaar — so having an Aadhaar-seeded bank account is a must.
Documents You Need to Submit
Parents or guardians need to submit these documents at the school, so the Head Master/Mistress can apply on the student’s behalf through the OSSP (Odisha Scholarship Portal):
- Caste Certificate of the student (for EBC students, a self-declaration works instead)
- Income Certificate of parent/guardian
- Copy of the student’s Aadhaar card
- Mobile number linked with the student’s Aadhaar
📌 Note: Students don’t apply online themselves — the school handles the online application once these documents are submitted.
How Much Scholarship Will You Get?
The amount depends on your category and whether you’re a hosteller (staying in a hostel) or a day-scholar (living at home and commuting). The amount is the same for boys, girls, and transgender students within each category.
| Category | Hosteller (per year) | Day-Scholar (per year) |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduled Tribe (ST) | Rs. 6,250 | Rs. 3,000 |
| Scheduled Caste (SC) | Rs. 7,000 | Rs. 3,500 |
| OBC / SEBC | Rs. 4,000 | Rs. 4,000 |
| EBC | Rs. 4,000 | Rs. 4,000 |
Payment details:
- The scholarship is paid once a year.
- It is credited directly to the student’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account — no cash payments.
Last Date to Apply
📅 9th October 2026
Make sure the required documents are submitted to your school well before this date, since the school needs time to process and submit the online application.
