If you want your child to study in a good government school, then there is good news for you. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has started the admission process for the academic session 2026-27. Parents can now apply for Balvatika 1, 2, 3 and Class 1 to Class 12.

Eligibility Criteria

Age limit is decided as per KVS rules. Children under CwSN category get 2 years relaxation in age.

Age Limit (as on 31 March 2026)

  • Balvatika-1: 3 years but less than 4 years
  • Balvatika-2: 4 years but less than 5 years
  • Balvatika-3: 5 years but less than 6 years
  • Class 1: 6 years but less than 8 years
  • Class 2: 7 years but less than 9 years
  • Class 3: 8 years but less than 10 years
  • Class 4: 9 years but less than 11 years
  • Class 5: 10 years but less than 12 years
  • Class 6: 10 years but less than 12 years
  • Class 7: 11 years but less than 13 years
  • Class 8: 12 years but less than 14 years
  • Class 9: 13 years but less than 15 years
  • Class 10: 14 years but less than 16 years
  • Class 11 & 12: No age limit (continuous study required)

Important notes:

  • For Class 1, previous school certificate is not required.
  • For Class 9, admission is based on entrance test.
  • For Class 11, admission depends on Class 10 marks.

Admission Priority

Seats are filled according to priority categories:

  1. Children of Central Government employees and ex-servicemen
  2. Children of employees of PSU and autonomous bodies
  3. Children of State Government employees
  4. Other categories (project schools give priority to sponsor children)

Transfer history of parents may also affect priority.

Reservation in KVS

  • SC – 15%
  • ST – 7.5%
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) – 27%
  • CwSN – 3%
  • RTE quota – 25% seats in Balvatika & Class 1

Under RTE, selected students do not need to pay fees up to Class 8.

Special Categories

Admission above normal seat limit may be given to:

  • Children of KVS staff
  • Children of government employees who died during service
  • Children of Gallantry award winners
  • National or State level sports players
  • National Bravery Award winners
  • Talented students in Fine Arts
  • Children orphaned during Covid-19 (PM CARES)
  • Children of Kashmir migrants

Documents Required

Keep these documents ready:

  • Birth certificate
  • Aadhaar card
  • Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS)
  • Parent service certificate (if applicable)
  • Transfer certificate (if already studying)
  • CwSN certificate (if applicable)
  • Address proof
  • Passport size photo

How to Apply for KVS Admission 2026-27

  1. Visit the official website: admission.kvs.gov.in
  2. Click on “Admission” section.
  3. Select “Online Registration for Balvatika and Class 1 (2026-27)”.
  4. Click on “Register”.
  5. Read instructions carefully and accept terms.
  6. Fill child’s details like name, date of birth, parent details.
  7. Upload required documents.
  8. Submit the form.
  9. Take printout for future use.

For Class 2 and above, visit the nearest Kendriya Vidyalaya and fill offline form if seats are available.
